A Website for Everyone: The True Meaning of Accessibility in Hotels

News

May 20, 2026

On June 28, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) took effect, marking a turning point in how companies must design their digital experiences.

For the hotel industry, this is not just a matter of compliance, but an opportunity to move toward something more important: providing an accessible, convenient, and barrier-free digital experience for everyone.

What does digital accessibility mean for a hotel?

Web accessibility involves ensuring that anyone, regardless of their abilities, can browse, understand, and interact with a website without barriers.

This includes, for example:

  • People with visual or hearing impairments
  • Users with physical disabilities
  • Older adults
  • Users with specific cognitive needs

In practice, this translates to a clearer, more intuitive, and ultimately more human experience. Because when a website is accessible, it doesn’t just work better for some users—it works better for everyone.

A new challenge… and a different way of understanding the digital experience.

The new regulations require websites to comply with digital standards such as WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which means adapting certain aspects of design, navigation, and content.

But beyond being a requirement, accessibility invites us to rethink how we design our digital experiences:

  • breaking down barriers
  • making navigation easier
  • making every interaction easier to understand

It’s not just about compliance; it’s about building more inclusive digital environments where anyone can engage with the brand on an equal footing.

How is Roiback approaching accessibility?

At Roiback, we have been working for some time to help our clients along this path.

In collaboration with our technology partner Equalweb, we have implemented measures to ensure that our websites comply with accessibility requirements, both technically and functionally.

This includes the ability to add an additional layer of accessibility through tools that allow users to customize the interface to suit their needs:

  • Adjusting text size and contrast
  • Link highlighting
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Adjusting spacing
  • And other features designed to enhance the user experience

All of this is done securely, in compliance with the GDPR, and without affecting the website's performance or structure.

Beyond compliance: a continuous evolution.

Accessibility is not a one-time project, but an ongoing process.

As user expectations and the digital landscape evolve, adapting means continuing to move toward experiences that are more open, clearer, and more inclusive.

For hoteliers, this means not only complying with regulations but also gaining a better understanding of their guests and offering them an experience that truly caters to their needs.

Our next steps

Over the next few weeks, we will be reaching out to our clients to guide them through this process and ensure a smooth implementation tailored to each individual case.

At Roiback, we continue to work to remain leaders in innovation and to reinforce our commitment to full accessibility and the continuous improvement of the user experience for everyone.
