General travel trends:

According to the report, 80% of respondents plan to travel for leisure this summer, a 10 percentage point increase from the spring. It is worth noting that 83% of these travelers are motivated by specific seasonal reasons, such as festivals, school vacations, and sporting activities. 11% are still undecided about their summer travel plans.

Cost is the main consideration when choosing travel dates, closely followed by weather and school vacations. Interestingly, despite economic concerns, 52% of respondents do not plan to change their travel plans due to macroeconomic factors.

​​​​​​Demographics and travel preferences:

The report reveals that Generation Z and Millennials are the age groups most likely to travel this summer.

This summer, 95% of travelers intend to travel as much or more than last summer, with 44% planning to travel more. The majority of respondents (80%) are planning one or two trips, and 57% are planning five nights or more. In addition, 27% of travelers plan to visit three or more cities during their major summer trip.

​​​​​​Half of the respondents plan to travel domestically, 27% internationally, and 23% both domestically and internationally. In addition, 64% of travelers plan to return to destinations they have visited before. Air travel remains popular, with 53% of respondents planning to fly to their destinations.

Travel planning and booking:

Planning is a priority for many, with 58% of respondents intending to book activities in advance. Younger travelers are much more likely to do so. Hotels are the preferred accommodation for nearly two-thirds of respondents, while vacation rentals are more popular among younger travelers.

Travel rewards programs:

Travel-related rewards programs are popular, with 43% of respondents enrolled in one or more programs. Among them, 64% value free services in hotel rewards programs. However, lack of information remains the main obstacle to signing up.

Economic impact on travel:

Economic factors will influence the travel plans of 37% of respondents, with rising inflation being the main concern. Despite this, 93% of travelers plan to spend the same or more on travel compared to last summer, and 49% plan to spend more.

Cost, weather and safety are the main concerns for upcoming trips. More than half of respondents take extreme weather conditions into account when planning their trips. Hotel and accommodation deals are important cost-related factors for travelers.
